ISRAEL has completed construction of an energy pipeline to Gaza. The Israel Defence Force's Civil Administration co-ordinated the project with representatives of the Palestinian Authority (PA), and the construction was undertaken by both Israeli and Palestinian crews. In a statement regarding the new pipeline, the Israeli army said it 'will continue to work in order to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip'.

PetroChina to buy pipelines from parent
ASIA'S largest oil and gas producer, China's PetroChina, is to purchase two pipelines in western China from its state-owned parent, China National Petroleum Co, for about $1.4 billion. The assets to be acquired include a crude oil pipeline and a refined oil pipeline, each 1,858km long, running from Urumqi in the west to the Lanzhou in Gansu, in the east. The crude and refined oil pipelines have designed transmission capacities of 20m ton/yr and 10m ton/yr, respectively.

China to construct trans-Burmese oil and gas pipelines
IT IS UNDERSTOOD that China is planning to start construction of twin oil and gas pipelines through Burma in September with the aim of reducing the journey time for crude oil imports from the Middle East and Africa, the China Securities Journal reported recently. 'The pipelines in [Burma] will be built under the name of CNPC but whether CNPC or PetroChina undertakes the construction of the domestic [Chinese] section has not been decided,' the newspaper said, citing an unnamed CNPC official. CNPC, China's largest oil and gas producer, operates most of its domestic businesses via PetroChina.
