World market leader within 10 years

This year, NDT Systems & Services AG has two equally good reasons to celebrate. Together with its business partners, representatives from both local politics and local industry that NDT is connected closely with and, of course, with the approximately 200 employees at the Stutensee location: on July 9th, 2010 the company will commemorate the tenth anniversary of its founding together with the official inauguration of the Stutensee headquarters, which has already been functional since October 2009. The approx. 7,500 sqm, prestigious new building in the industrial park of Blankenloch West I was erected in just one year by Vollack GmbH & Co. KG, Karlsruhe.
The success story of this medium sized business began 10 years ago, when 27 engineers and physicists got together in Stutensee to establish themselves in the market with their know-how in the field of automated inspection systems for non-destructive testing.

NDT-Highlights at the Pipeline Technology Conference, April 19th + 20th, 2010

NDT Systems & Services AG introduces its latest hard- and software novelties for the high-resolution inspection of oil and gas pipelines at the Pipeline Technology Conference within the scope of the Hannover Fair from April 19-20, 2010. After undergoing intensive and successful testing over the last few months, our new multi-technology inspection solution 'LineExplorer 3TM'  for cost-efficient high resolution ultrasonic testing of gas pipelines without the need of a liquid batch is now commercially available (see also our latest Press Release dealing with this product launch). In addition to our fleet of ultrasonic and MFL-tools we can increasingly offer special configurations for individual inspection tasks to our customers, such as solutions for detecting smallest pittings in pipelines or tools for the circumferential crack detection especially in the vicinity of a girth weld and the associated heat affected zone.
Within the scope of the PTC 2010, Achim Hugger, head of our data analysis department, reports about "Thresholds, accuracies and resolution: quantitative measurement and its advantages for metal loss inspection" in session 3 ("Inspection and Leak Detection", Room Bonn) on Tuesday, April 20th, from 10:00 am.

NDT puts railroad wheelsets to the test

The worldwide railroad inspection market is subject to high safety standards to ensure safe traffic of passengers and freight. NDT Systems & Services AG has developed and built a fully Automated Ultrasonic Railroad Wheel Set Testing Station – AURA – in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institut Zerstörungsfreie Prüftechnik (Institute for non-destructive Testing) IZFP in Saarbrücken, Germany. For a limited time a reference unit will be on display at NDT's new headquarters in Stutensee.
Wheels and axles of high speed trains are exposed to high dynamic stresses, which can result in material damage with sometimes fatal consequences. Deutsche Bahn AG gives added confidence as a customer and user of AURA safety system for their trains. Thanks to the modular concept of the new AURA testing system, wheel sets from various suppliers such as SIEMENS, ALSTOM, KAWASAKI and BOMBARDIER can be tested economically during revision in the maintenance facility. Both sides of a wheel set can be inspected simultaneously for material faults, such as cracks, within an inspection period of less than 5 minutes. Furthermore the adjustment and assembly work of the operating personnel can be reduced considerably with a hassle-free and precise adjustment of the sensors.

Article in the March edition of Pipeline & Gas Technology Magazine

Today, in-line inspection tools are used routinely to assess the integrity and fitness-for-purpose of high pressure pipelines. Ultrasound technology provides the means to obtain quantitative, highly accurate and reliable inspection data for pipelines.
In addition, advancements in electronic design have led to marked enhancements regarding axial and depth resolution. Combined with higher speed capabilities than previous generations of ultrasound tools, this has significantly extended the range of application, offering quantitative and high accuracy data for defect geometries not previously covered. ..

Successful days at Hannover Messe 2006

For the very first time this year's Hannover Messe featured a separate exhibition space entirely dedicated to Pipeline technology. Thus the worlds biggest fair for the capital goods industry proved to be a successful venue to present our products and services within a prominent setting even though our target group is comparatively small. For the 5 days of the fair our sales staff was happy to welcome a large number of visitors on the booth of NDT Systems and Services AG which we shared together with our partners Tuboscope Pipeline Services and PIT AG.

Located close to the so called Pipeline Forum, a space dedicated to daily presentations, talks and panels, our presence produced a constant stream of interested visitors. Especially the display of one of our ultrasound pipeline inspection tools lured a lot of passer-bys into stopping and asking curious questions about NDT's products and field of expertise. People already familiar with in-line inspection did get a hands-on explanation of our modular tool approach whereas interested students or other non-experts were given a short introduction into our interesting field of work.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our visitors for stopping by and we are already looking forward to next year's Hannover Messe!
