Future Structural Integrity
Corrosion Growth Assessment
Ultrasound Technology (UT) has the advantage of true quantitative wall thickness measurement. This implies that a survey will reveal the exact remaining wall thickness and provide a true river bottom profile. This capability and the high resolution and accuracy of in-line inspection tools utilizing ultrasound make the data collected ideally suitable for corrosion growth investigations. Special sensor carrier designs as well as a range of specialized sensor types are available to configure the inspection tools for the detection and sizing of a wide range of metal loss geometries, including channeling corrosion and pitting. The integrity services offered by NDT Systems & Services GmbH & Co. KG include highly accurate corrosion growth assessment based on data collected from consecutive surveys.
Run Comparisons
NDT Services offers a full range of Run Comparison packages. This includes comparing data collected by in-line inspection tools during different runs. The following comparisons are possible:
> LineExplorer UT data with LineExplorer UT data
> LineExplorer UT data with other UT in-line inspection data
> LineExplorer UT data with data from magnetic flux leakage tools
> LineExplorer UT data with data from mapping or geometric tools
Remaining Life Estimation and Service Interval Determination The highly accurate data provided by modern in-line inspection tools can also be used to investigate remaining life. Additional input, such as material and operating parameters, needs to be known. Service intervals can be investigated and defined, based on known material parameters and defect growth assumptions.
